Carrie is a graduate of the reputable
Florida School of Massage in Gainesville, Florida.
FSM has been teaching massage for 25 years and offers its
student a comprehensive opportunity to explore the benefits
of giving and receiving massages from centered and present
therapists using a holistic approach.
Upon graduation Carrie had completed over 1000 hours of
in house training, more than twice that required by the
National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage
and Bodywork. Her training included highly qualified instruction
and hands on experience in various modalities such as:
Swedish
Neuromuscular
Therapy
Connective
Tissue Therapy
Polarity
Sports Massage
Hydrotherapy
Elderly Massage
Preliminary training in Reiki
and Reflexology.
She customizes each massage to best suit the needs of the
individual client, utilizing the most appropriate combination
of these modalities in light of her understanding of Anatomy,
Physiology and Kinesiology.
In addition, she has completed a continuing education course
designed specifically to address the symptoms associated
with repetitive stress injuries such as Carpal Tunnel and
Thoracic Outlet Syndromes.
While in school, she not only completed the required number
of hours working in the student clinic, she also helped
manage this weekly opportunity for the public to receive
student massages at a discounted rate. Concurrently, she
organized and oversaw the implementation of a bi-weekly
free clinic open to second year medical students at the
University of Florida while they studied for their state
board exams. She is nationally certified and locally licensed
through the Florida
Department of Health and Medical Quality Assurance Board
A Magna Cum Laude graduate of Florida State University,
she holds a Bachelor's of Science degree in Anthropology
in addition to minors in Biology, Psychology, and Spanish.
In her free time she likes to practice Yoga, T'ai Chi, and
Chi Kung as well as outdoor activities such as bicycling
and river boating.
