110th Anniversary Endowment Campaign
The Riley House, constructed in 1890,
is the last physical evidence of a thriving middle-class African American community that
existed in downtown Tallahassee at the turn of the 20th century. More than a historical
landmark, the house is a noble symbol of progress and the ability of its owner to succeed
despite the odds.
To insure that the Riley House has perpetual funds to support its numerous projects
and programs in the years to come, a campaign to raise $360,000 is in progress.
The interest from these funds will be used to preserve the Riley House and sustain
operations. If the foundation raises this amount, the state of Florida's Division of
Cultural Affairs will
provide a match of $240,000.
