WHERE IS THE SALVATION ARMY

The Salvation Army serves people in 102 countries. The International Headquarter is located in London. In Jamaica, the Army maintains an outstanding school, community and adult tehabilitation centers, a training college and a home for people who are blind. In Paris, the Army has a barge on the River Seine to provide food and shelter for the homeless. In Africa, the Army operates more than 4,000 centers across the continent, including schools for people who are blind and rehabilitation centers for children with physical disabilities. In Hong Kong, many young people learn trades at Army vocational training centers. In India, the Army has more than 4,900 centers providing services such as medical, surgical, and rehabilitation to thousand of patient each year. The Salvation Army together with the Indian Health Organization, is reaching out to help treat those who are HIV-positive and to educate communities about 1991, and now has centers in Moscow and St. Petersburg.

The Salvation Army is also on the streets preaching the gospel to people who might not otherwise hear it. In the United States, the Army has 9,600 service units in Major Cities and in communities like yours. The Salvation Army is dedicated to caring for thf poor, feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, loving the unloving and befriending those who have no friends. The dedication has prodiced an international network of helpful ministries. Probably the most widely known of all Salvation Army services are the adult rehabilitation centers. They comprise the largest resident substance abuse rehabilitation program in the United States. Men and women with identifiable and treatable needs to these centers for help when they are no longer able to cope with their problems. Free temporary shelters available to homeless men and women in financial straits. Low-cost housing is also available to men and women living on pensions or social security. Housing and Aids counseling. Abuse and Run A Way Shelters. Youth programs such as the boys and girls clubs, local weekly youth activities. Day camps and summer camp for disadvantaged children. Cooperative arrangements exist with prison and parole officers in programs.
