Public Information

The Salvation Army carries its message around the world. Visibility has increased due to traditional everyday programs in communities across the nation. Disaster services, Christmas kettles and community services have expanded public awareness and solidified credibility.

Communication occurs in the form of articles, news releases and announcements that are written by Salvation Army personnel for distribution to the media. Radio and television public service announcements are produced for use by broadcast networks nationwide. Films are produced for distribution to schools, churches, service clubs, women's organizations, and other community groups.


The War Cry is the national bi-weekly publication of The Salvation Army. Approximately 14 million copies are distributed annually in the United States. Other publications include: Young Salvationist, a relitious magazine for young poeople; El Gurito de Guerra, a spanish language edition of The War Cry,published in Mexico; and Program Aids,a quarterly manual for Home League leaders.


Periodicals are published in London which tell about activities around the world. They are: The Salvation Army Yearbook,an annual international compilation of basic facts and statistics; The Deliverer, a record of social work activity; All the World, a missionary magazine; and The Home League Exchange, for Home League members.
