TFN is a volunteer organization
and could not operate without their help. It takes a lot of
attention to build and maintain a community. It takes people
who are willing to give of themselves for the common good.
It takes volunteers. TFN has many opportunities for both online
and offline volunteers.
Offline Volunteers

TFN depends upon contributions from individuals, businesses
and other institutions for its survival. One of the most important
volunteer activities is fundraising. TFN is always in need
of people who believe in TFN's mission and are willing to
solicit contributions from local individuals and businesses.
We believe that TFN sponsorships are a win-win situation for
both TFN and the sponsor. TFN gets money for operating and
the sponsor gets lots of exposure and recognition on TFN's
webpages. We are always on the lookout for good fundraising
ideas as well. If you are interested in assisting with TFN

Online Volunteers
email help aliases
This is online work which involves answering user questions
regarding TFN or related subjects via email. Generally all
email help volunteers start out on the questions, pc-problems,
or mac-problems email aliases. Prerequisites for questions
volunteers include general knowledge of TFN's text-based system
and some knowledge of html.
If you would like to help other users by answering their questions
and other concerns via email, please fill out the volunteer
form and indicate which alias you would like to volunteer
for.
web page editors
This work involves developing and maintaining TFN web page
content. Editors are required to consistantly research their
subject area with the aim of keeping the information and links
current with emphasis on local events and information related
to the subject area. Knowledge of html mandatory. Work is
performed under the general supervision of the TFN Executive
Director who is also responsible for page design and layout.
However editors creative input is desired. Editors have the
option of incorporating other TFN services such as newsgroups/forums,
chat channels, etc. to encourage community participation and
networking.
We are looking for editors for all of the items on the main
index (tfn.net/index.html) Current needs for new pages include
distance-learning, youth, seniors, and parents. However we
don't want to limit ourselves to just these. If you have a
new idea about a subject area that you think would be relevant
to the community and you would like to develop it following
our editorial policy, please let us know about it. Email director@tfn.net
or fill out the volunteer form. Please indicate what subject
area you interested in volunteering for.
Appointed Positions
html admin
Html admin volunteers assist with the maintenance of TFN web
pages by adding new links and checking existing ones. These
volunteers are members of the html group and answer some mail
addressed to webmaster.
sysadmin
senior volunteers answer email addressed to 'tfn-problems@tfn.net'
and keep things running. If it's working, it's because these
guys did it.
