Political CartoonsBy Elizabeth George Provide a newspaper for each student. For this exercise, it is not necessary for the issue to be current. Make sure each student has the section that contains the editorials. Allow the students a few minutes to read on their own before introducing the lesson. Have each student share what his or her political cartoon says (located on the editorial page). You may even want to cut these out and post them on a bulletin board. Each student is to select a political cartoon and write what it is about and if they agree with the illustrator. This is a wonderful opportunity to talk about current events. Have the students share what they wrote.
