Job Application Tips
By Susan Kraul
Your job application gives the employer his/her first impression of you. Businesses often receive hundreds of applications for a single position, or applications are kept on file and reviewed as openings occur. To be sure that your application gets put into the “interview pile” and not the “discard pile,” follow these common sense tips:
Follow directions and use a pen or pencil as stated on the application
Print neatly and completely without abbreviations
Supply all the information requested including address and telephone number
Write “open” for salary desired to insure a follow-up interview
Give a specific position you are applying for
Be sure to sign and date the application
Re-read the application for any errors
