Literacy Tutors Receive Certificates of CompletionThese volunteers attended a four-evening course consisting of 16 hours of intense tutor training. Most of the tutors are already working with adult students to help them read better. Ginger Brooks, Veronica (Ronnie) Jones, and Mary Ann Pelletier are VISTAs (Volunteers in Service to America) assigned to LVWC; their assignment is to build on the present (established) infrastructure to enhance the program and ensure its continuity. To become a trainer, tutors must have experience teaching the Laubach Way to Reading Series and must present each segment of the training, working alongside a certified trainer. Interested tutors are encouraged to consider the opportunity to become a trainer in order to strengthen the program. If anyone would like to participate in this program as either a student or tutor, please feel free to contact the Literacy Office at the Washington/Holmes Vo-Tech in Chipley, FL at 638-6317.
