The Substance Abuse Treatment Program (SATP) provides outpatient treatment for veterans with substance use disorders and continuing care for veterans who have already completed a substance abuse treatment program.
Program Philosophy
The program views substance abuse as a disease with biological, psychological, social and spiritual components. We believe that the chemically dependent person requires special rehabilitation techniques which focus on these components. We also believe that rehabilitation from substance abuse includes active participation of the patient and significant others, including spouse, family and friends.
Recovery from substance abuse is a life-long process. Involvement in the SATP is seen as the first step of the recovery process. Planning for continuing care begins with the patient's acceptance into the program. The program encourages and facilitates participation in support groups including Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA). The Clinic hosts a Narcotics Anonymous meeting at 8:00 p.m. on Sunday nights, a Cocaine Anonymous (CA) meeting at 7:30 on Wednesday nights and a Gamblers Anonymous (GA) meeting at 7:30 on Tuesday nights.
