CONA's 28th Annual Meeting and Awards Reception at the Museum of Florida History May 12, 2008.

Congratulations to Judy Taps for receiving their "Public Servant of the Year" award. Then Sandler Dickson, president of WHNA was "utterly speechless" on receiving for WHNA the the "Large Neighborhood of the Year Award." He then received his just punishment from Mayor John Marks who announced he was also the city's choice for "Neighbor of the Year."

Trash and recycle pickup: Each resident should have received a schedule for your putting out garbage, recycling containers, and yard waste. Further information can be seen at their utility website. A city ordinances requires that the cans be removed from the street by nighfall on the day of pick up and we are told that they will be monitoring to remind those who leave the containers out. Note that if you wish to also recycle plastic bags or styrofoam material in addition to that allowed in your recycle container, Publix provides bins outside each of their stores for so doing.

Those who find they are unable to get the containers to and from the street and need the "Helping Hands" to provide back door service on both of these pick ups may contact the city solid waste to obtain a form for their doctor to sign indicating that no one in their household is able to handle the containers. Those that wish to continue back door service weekly for both recycle and garbage can do so by paying an extra $20 per month. There is also a form for this service.

Election:  As can be seen on the maps pages, Waverly is now together in precinct 3403..

The city is now requiring addresses to be visible from the street in numbers no smaller than 3". Although they have put off enforcing this to date, residents should be aware that they may someday be sending notices to those who do not comply.

Because speed humps have now been constructed on three roads, we enter a new period. How they came to be is on the old page, and now is a time for assessment.
