- If you are seeing this page, this is the
new TFN Helplink Database Page. The older index has been retired.
I would like to personally thank Ethan Kromhout - He has
been instrumental in the restoration of my account so that I can again access the system and edit and redesign files for the Database as
necessary. It just goes to show that there are a great many things behind the scenes that our TFN Volunteers do, some of which we users
may not see, but to him and other TFN Volunteers that work so hard to keep this place running I say THANK YOU - You
ARE Appreciated and I am proud to be a volunteer here and continue my service to my community -- Buddy
- Currently everything is working as it
should...except Dial-up. We still do not have an answer as to when - or if
- Dial-up will be restored.
Inactive
User Policy - TFN has a policy
for removing inactive accounts. Basically, any
account
that is not used for three consecutive months is
subject
to suspension and/or deletion...more
Welcome to

(8/28) Linked in the SUPP- Tier Webpage - That way, I can see what I have to
add to this Tier's web Page - I have work to do on this page, but I am almost done
with it. The Support Tier is a new tier I created for those indivduals who wanted to
learn about different things - Such as: What is Telent/FTP/SSH/SFTP? or What are
File Permissions? I also have information on how to use SSH and SFTP and how to connect
to the system using these protocols - work will continue in the next few days to complete
this Tier Page
Added a Page Updates Link to the top of the Database page
This will make it easier for users to see the updates section with one click - bsb
Several older out-of-date pages have been updated. Chief among these is
the PPP Registration Page - dialup service has not yet been restored, and hence Registration
for PPP accounts remains and will continue to remain down and unavailable until dialup service
returns - as of this date, we still do not have any ETA for the return of dialup service - This
information resides in the 'COMM-' Tier, and will be updated when necessary.
Helplink File has been created to instruct users how to change standard mailto: links
to simple java - This file is located in the 'WEB-' Tier --bsb
(7/30)Helplink File has been added to instruct users how to forward email to other accounts
- It resides in the 'MAIL-' tier. Work on the Support Tier Continues. --bsb
(7/22) HelpLink Files relating to Webpage Construction have been added
in the WEB- Tier, as well as files that relate to the use of TFN's Web Based
Forums, Use of Neomail and OpenWebMail, and Web CGI options for users.
Webmail HelpLink files will be completed shortly --bsb
(7/9) Helplink Files concerning The MUTT and PINE
Mailers have been completed as well as HelpLink Files
that deal with the configuration of both Mailers. --bsb
This page is created for Tallahassee Freenet Users who may need some assistance with
TFN. Orginally, TFN's menu system had a link to the helplink files that were
available to users on the helplink menu. Today, I am going to link up this
information on my webpage, so that I can maintain and edit this information as
needed. The information will be converted to HTML files and placed here for our
users benefit. As always, if there is anything you think should be here that is not,
please send me some email and let me know. --Buddy
To the left of this page, you will find the TFN Helplink Database Files. Each group of files is
broken down into "tiers" of similar files. The ACCT Tier files deal with issues that are related
to your user account. The COMM Tier of files relates to information concerning connecting to TFN.
The Mail Tier deals with Mail issues, and the MISC Tier deals with miscellaneous issues concerning TFN
Later on, information will be added about web based services and other interesting topics.
NOTICE: Please Note that some Links may not function yet, while I continue to make subtle changes and updates
to the Helplink Database and its files - I ask your indulgence while this process continues --buddy
