Your TFN account is a powerful tool. Users can access thier mail via Neomail or PINE, but many users may want to send thier freenet Email to another account. This way, they can get all of thier email in one place. It should be noted that TFN's Inactive Accounts Policy states that as long as your account has a valid forwarding address, it is NOT considered abandoned, and will NOT be deleted.MAINTAINED BY: Brian S. "Buddy" Baker
To forward your mail to another address, you need to perform the following steps:
From a Shell, type 'pico .forward' and press 'enter' (without the quotes)
The pico editor will open up: Type the address in the form of 'you@someplace-else.com' (without the quotes)
press control+x and answer yes when it asks you if you want to save the file, and accept the name .forward
The file will be saved - the .forward file is a dotfile, which means that it is a system file - now that there is a .forward file in your account, ANY and ALL MAIL that comes to your TFN adress will be forwarded to the address that resides in the .forward file.
USING FTP TO CHANGE THE FORWARD FILE: Users who do not have access to the system shell can use FTP to upload a forward file to your home directory. To do this, Open Notepad and place the address that you want your mail forwarded to (you@someplace-else.com) then go to File>Save As, and save the file as .forward - It is recomended to save this text file to your desktop. Now, all you need to do is to connect to TFN via FTP, and upload that file to your home directory.
If instead, you do not feel comfortable doing this, you can Mail The Problems Team with the address you wish to forward your TFN mail to, and an admin will enter your home directory and make a .forward file for you, placing the requested address in it.
