SETTING UP PINE MAILER OPTIONS
When you are at PINE's Main Menu, you can press the 'S' key to access the Setup options. These options will allow users to configure
many of the user options available. They are Listed in this HelpLink File to assist users in understanding thier functions. If anyone
has any questions about these options, please do not hesitate to Write The Questions
Team and we will be happy to assist you further. --Buddy
PINE USER OPTIONS AVAILABLE VIA SETUP COMMAND [VERSION 4.64 ON TFN]
(E) Exit Setup: This puts you back at the Main Menu.
(P) Printer: Allows you to set a default printer and to define custom print commands.
(N) Newpassword: Change your password. NOTE: THIS OPTION DOES NOT CHANGE YOUR ACCOUNT LOGIN PASSWORD
(C) Config: Allows you to set many features which are not turned on by default.
You may also set the values of many options with that command.
(S) Signature: Enter or edit a custom signature which will be included with each new message you send.
(A) AddressBooks: Define a non-default address book.
(L) collectionLists: You may define groups of folders to help you better organize your mail.
(R) Rules: This has up to five sub-categories: Roles, Index Colors, Filters,
SetScores, and Other. If the Index Colors option is missing
you may turn it on (if possible) with Setup/Kolor.
If Roles is missing it has probably been administratively disabled
(D) Directory: Define an LDAP Directory server for Pine's use. A directory server is
similar to an address book, but it is usually maintained by an
organization. It is similar to a telephone directory.
(K) Kolor:
Set custom colors for various parts of the Pine screens. For example, the
command key labels, the titlebar at the top of each page, and quoted
sections of messages you are viewing.
(Z) RemoteConfigSetup:
This is a command you will probably only want to use once, if at all.
It helps you transfer your Pine configuration data to an IMAP server,
where it will be accessible from any of the computers you read mail
from (using Pine). The idea behind a remote configuration is that you
can change your configuration in one place and have that change show
up on all of the computers you use.
(Note: this command does not show up on the keymenu at the bottom of
the screen unless you press "O" for "Other Commands" --but you don't
need to press the "O" in order to invoke the command.)
(X) eXceptions:
This command is different from the rest. It is not actually a command
itself. Instead, it is a toggle which modifies the behavior of the
other commands. You toggle Exceptions editing on and off with this
command. When it is off you will be editing (changing) your regular
configuration file. When it is on you will be editing your exceptions
configuration file. For example, you might want to type the command
"eXceptions" followed by "Kolor" to setup different screen colors
on a particular platform.
(Note: this command does not do anything unless you have a configuration
with exceptions enabled (you don't have that). Common ways to enable an
exceptions config are the command line argument "-x ";
or the existence of the file ".pinercex" for Unix Pine, or "PINERCEX")
for PC-Pine.)
(Another note: this command does not show up on the keymenu at the bottom
of the screen unless you press "O" for "Other Commands" --but you
don't need to press the "O" in order to invoke the command.)
PLEASE NOTE: These commands are used to configure the way PINE behaves. Most users will not use any more than the
(C), (S) and maybe the (K) command to: Configure PINE Options, Setup a .Signature File, or add Kolor to the PINE Screens.
